Easter - Jesus Rises Again
Goes along with Adult Devotion of the same title.
You do not have to be afraid, because Jesus rose from the dead!
Read Matthew 28:1-10.
Bible Focus: “But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said.’” -Matthew 28:5-6a
Picture an angel in your mind. What do you see? Maybe you thought of a halo, or little wings, or a white dress. Pretty cute, right?
In the Bible, whenever an angel appeared to someone, they always started out by saying “Fear not” or “Do not be afraid.” If they had to remind people that they didn’t have to be scared of them, then they probably were more scary-looking than cute!
The angel who appeared to the women on Easter morning told them right away not to be afraid. He had amazing news to share with them. Jesus had risen from the dead!
This news is for you, too! Whenever you feel afraid - whether you’re afraid of spiders, or the dark, or monsters in your closet, or being left out, or something happening to your family members, or anything else - you can remember that Jesus rose from the dead. No matter what happens to you, you do not have to be afraid, because Jesus is alive, and he cares for you!
Your Easter challenge:
Write down one of your fears. In thick black marker, write the words “Do not be afraid!” over your fear.
Please pray:
Dear Jesus, I praise you for rising from the dead on Easter morning! Sometimes, Jesus, I am afraid. I thank you for how much you care for me. I ask that you would help me to remember the good news of Easter! In your name I pray, Amen.
